Apache Hive 2.0 and Beyond: Interactive and OLAP Workloads Powered by LLAP and Druid

Speaker: Brandon Wilson, Solutions Engineer at Hortonworks

Apache Hive has long been the de facto standard data warehousing workhorse for Hadoop. The latest enhancements in the community have expanded its capabilities to significantly reduce query latency for interactive workloads, such as self-service BI. Also, integration with the distributed processing engine of Druid enables OLAP-style workloads via Hive’s familiar and convenient SQL interface. In this talk, we will discuss the architecture and components of LLAP as well as how they are leveraged to achieve a significant performance boost for Hive. We will also provide a brief introduction of the Druid architecture and its integration points with Hive. Time permitting, we will provide a brief demo of each feature.
