Deploying Stateful Streaming Pipelines in <5 minutes with CSP Community Edition

Details

Underpinned by Apache Kafka, Apache Flink and SQL Stream Builder,
Cloudera Stream Processing (CSP) provides unparalleled capabilities for real-time complex stream processing. CSP allows users to quickly write SQL queries to get immediate insights into real-time streaming data, compose materialized views and build rich dashboards for immediate insights and decision making.

During this meetup, Joe Niemiec will describe key features of CSP and what capabilities are available in the Community Edition, which you can download for free and run locally on a laptop. Joe will also walk through a cybersecurity use case and how CSP could be used to provide real-time insights to detect anomalies.

Next, Erik Beebe will demonstrate how to get started with CSP CE and illustrate the power of SQL Stream Builder to query streaming data in Flink and Kafka. Erik will also demonstrate how to easily manage a Kafka cluster with Streams Messaging Manager, and create schemas - all within CSP CE!

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  1. Launch & get started with CSP-CE on your desktop PC
  2. Run real-time SQL queries on sample data
  3. Get a feel of the feature rich offering of CSP

About the Speakers
Joseph Niemiec is a lifelong technologist with a unique background in big data and stream processing technologies. Having worked on everything from Connected Vehicle Data Ingestion to Social Media Firehose syndication, Joe knows what Streaming Big Data is all about.

Erik Beebe is a Principal Engineer and Technical Lead at Cloudera, usually working on Apache Flink and Streaming SQL. Prior to Cloudera, he co-founded Eventador Labs, and ObjectRocket. 20+ years of experience having fun with everything from Java, to Storage Area Networks, to Sun E10000s.

This is still a tricky time for public gatherings, but Future of Data is committed to providing great tech content & facilitating discussions in the streaming data space. Our group in Austin, Texas is holding this event; in order to do our part to fight the spread of the omicron subvariant of COVID-19, BA.5, this will be an exclusively online event originating in the Central Daylight Time zone (the event time displayed on this page will reflect your equivalent local time). We thought it might be of interest to our wider membership (you are welcome to sign up for it here).
