Exploring the rLoop Hyperloop Project: the Power of Crowdfunded Engineering

Details
Formed on the social media site Reddit, rLoop is a non-profit, open source, online think tank composed of more than 140 members from 14 different countries working to help bring Elon Musk’s hyperloop concept into reality. The group won the "best non-student team award" at the SpaceX Hyperloop design weekend last January. It is one of 22 invited to come back for the final competition this summer on the SpaceX Hyperloop test track in southern California, selected from 1800 team proposals submitted in January). Now comes the final challenge: build the pod prototype, and raise the funds to make this possible. Thomas Lambot, an aerospace engineer at NASA Ames, is the project chief engineer. He'll present the background behind the dynamics of crowdfunded engineering, the pod design, its current status, and how to get involved.
