Civic Hacknight 011: Collective Intelligence with Divya Siddarth

Come help us chip away at civic challenges! We've got everything you need for a friendly and productive night: an invited speaker to learn from, wonderful co-conspirators to meet, some projects to work on, and delicious food to eat!

We're working up to hosting regular weekly events. We'll need your energy and contributions to make that work! (See ABOUT US section below)

‣ PRESENTER: Divya Siddarth @divyasiddarth

‣ TOPIC: Collective Intelligence Project

‣ BIO:
Divya (MSc Oxford Internet Institute) is the co-founder of the Collective Intelligence Project, which advances collective intelligence capabilities for the democratic and effective governance of transformative technologies. She serves as Associate Political Economist and Social Technologist at Microsoft’s Office of the CTO. She also holds positions as a research director at Metagov and a researcher in residence at the RadicalXChange Foundation.

She has written extensively on these topics, with work published in Frontiers in Blockchain, Coindesk, ACM SIGCHI, ICTD, Information, Communication, and Society, ACM COMPASS, LREC, Harvard's Safra Center, The Morning Context, and The Wire, among others.

SPACE4 is more than an inclusive, tech-focused co-working space. It is home to a community of technology activists and social innovators. They're a hub for the generation of progressive ideas, organisations and individuals and encourage collaboration amongst our members.

To be announced.

The venue is fully accessible. We will post details before event.

Civic Tech Toronto is a diverse community of Torontonians interested in better understanding and finding solutions to civic challenges through technology, design or other means. They run weekly "civic hacknights for everyone", where people of all backgrounds and skill levels are welcome to attend. (Civic Tech Toronto was in turn inspired by the values and format of Chicago's ChiHackNight. )
