Senior dogs, especially those with health challenges, face a high risk of not making it out of a shelter compared to younger dogs. They often do not get adopted out due to their age and worries about the cost of their veterinary care.
However, as many of you know, senior dogs are often amazing companions who just need a chance at a home to live a great life and bring joy to the people who love them. Perhaps a little more laid back, perhaps a little more easygoing, and often very grateful and loving for that second chance, they deserve to spend their golden years in a home with plenty of love, a soft bed, and some tasty treats.
If you are interested in helping out senior dogs in need of rescue here in Georgia in any way - whether that's through fostering, crossposting, connecting with existing rescues, fundraising, transport, volunteer management, or more in depth operational/logistical/strategic support - please join the team! We'll host meetups regularly to plan, train, and volunteer/visit existing organizations, and in the long run we may look into building an organization that serves the needs of senior dogs at a deeper level.
