A Typical Visit

You are encouraged to explore the Southeast’s highest waterfall or enjoy a meal at the Amicalola Falls Lodge. Begin your hike by 2:00 p.m. to allow plenty of time for arrival. A conservation-minded facility tour is offered at 5:00 p.m., and a family-style dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. throughout the year. Breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. and checkout is from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. daily.

What’s Unique?

Guests arrive on foot! A moderate 5-mile hike takes you past beautiful vistas and creeks. Upon arrival, you will check in and go to your private room, which has bunk beds. Dinners are served family style, followed by an evening program about the natural or cultural resources of the Southern Appalachians. Early birds should not miss daybreak from the Sunrise Room. After a hot breakfast, explore the wilderness around the Hike Inn or head back to the park. Trail lunches, snacks, Hike Inn T-shirts, and limited hiking gear are available at the inn. Leave your worries behind - Enjoy your wilderness retreat!

NO SMOKING.

The Hike Inn is a Pack It In, Pack It Out facility. No trash cans provided.

What to Wear & Bring

Wear sturdy, comfortable boots or shoes and bring more than one change of socks. Layered, lightweight clothing will allow you to adjust to temperature changes without having to carry too many clothes in your pack. Remember rain gear, flashlight, toiletries, camp shoes, sun screen and a first aid kit. Many guests also bring a camera to capture the scenic beauty. DON’T FORGET TO BRING DRINKING WATER FOR YOUR HIKE TO THE INN! Untreated stream water is not safe for drinking.

I will email everyone on how to check-in. This will have info on where to park your car. If you hike in a bottle of wine (alcohol is NOT permitted in GA State Parks so bring at your own risk), remember, you MUST carry it back out with you when you leave. It's smarter to hike in a box o' wine, minus the box, so all you are hiking out is an empty bladder😬
