Fernbank Planetarium - Distant Worlds: Alien Life (& Observatory Telescope)

Details

The Fernbank Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium has posted its summer schedule and has a new show on possible Alien life. Here is the description from the website:

" The night sky is effectively a view of infinity; could alien life exist out there somewhere? This film investigates the conditions required for life, beginning with planets and moons in our Solar System and venturing out to some of the newly-discovered exoplanets orbiting other stars. Potentially habitable exoplanets are now being discovered regularly - worlds that are not only very far away, but also strange and unfamiliar. What could life on these worlds look like? What are the chances of encountering intelligent life in the future and how might we detect it?"

The show starts at 8pm so I am putting the start time at 7:30 to give people time to meet there look at the exhibits. We will meet inside downstairs at the doors to the theater at 7:50 to see the show.

The show lasts about an hour. Afterward, if the weather is clear, the observatory telescope opens at 9pm for viewing the moon, planets and other fun things in the sky. Doing this on a Thursday to hopefully avoid the Friday night telescope crowds.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids & seniors and can be only purchased in person, starting 30 minutes before the show.

Hope to see you there!
