The author, Dan Rood  will discuss his book "In the Shadow of the Great House: A History of the Plantation in America" with Peter Biello, the host of All Things Considered on GPB. It  is one of the first contemporary books to focus on the primary engine of slavery, race, and capitalism in this country: the plantation.

Let's meet between 6:30-6:45pm in the lobby of McElreath Hall, located downhill from the parking garage. There will be signs pointing to the entrance for the Author Talk. Beverages and the book is available for purchase prior to event.
