About us

This is a free group .

Gaidhlig agus Gaeilga (Scottish Gaildhig and Ulster Irish )

l I've been self studying Gaildhlig agus Gaeilga for a wee while now reading and watching mainly so I'm defo keen to get more match time experience and real time interaction hoping there is others out there that want the same .

The objective would be a imersion group for others who have learnt through their own impulse and passion as a pose to formal schooling . Although the group is advertised along specfic lines in theroy , in practice and at this stage it will be open to all speakers of Gaildhig and Gaeilga regardelss of dielects or which side of the water you are from . It's obvious both languages are such a neglegted state , any speaker is welcome if prepared to battle through with others and be flexiable

I want it to be open for speakers and learners or just people who want to try it out , I'm not from Gaeltacht but have always wanted to learn the language and and her mothers language

This is a free group if there is anybody out there who likes the idea of this and has more experience cordinating meet up's and get together then your input would be welcome . Feel free to pm me about stuff, like that.
My objective of this group is to let the language live not to bog it down with gate keepers or people who obssess over eclipses and lentions I belive those who want to learn to perfect and master the rules of the languages in theroy can do this well enough in their own time .

We acticly encourage pigeon broken gaidhig agus Gaeilga . This group is for people want to sit around a table and battle through a convesation without lapsing into english unless its an emergency or something . There are several spanish and english groups doing the same all oever the world we do not need permision or the big barn in order to go ahead and speak our languages

I'm not no a profesional worker or graduate or anything like that . I have written this on pure human instinct I apprecaite its' poorly written . Hopefully this will light a spark of inspiration in others like myself who just want a chance to speak with others in thse languages and even see if we can understand each other whether we are spoken in northern tones or sourthern. Its about breathing life into something not preserving a fosel . At least that's what I feel at this point in time .

We will try to meeet where the majority wants to and arrange times that suit the majority after deciding amongst ourselves . The only snag is the group should meet somewhere in Cent Edinburgh

Im open to suggestions about where we meet in Edinburgh we do not have to do the standard pub we can meet over cofffe on a weekend morning if thats what people prefer or somehere where we go walking etc . I've not written this in Gaeldhig or Gailega as Im not fleunt and I wanted to be sure I'm understood . Aon la ar Gaidhlig agus Gailega .

PS : This is my first time having a go at meet up so it might take a bit of time to get with it . :)
