Trail of 10 Falls - Silver Falls State Park

An Oregon Icon and breathtaking in the Fall -

People call it the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system, and once you visit, you know why. Silver Falls State Park is the kind of standout scenic treasure that puts Oregon firmly onto the national—and international—stage.
Where else can you walk behind a waterfall? Check out the famous South Falls and see what a 177-foot curtain of water looks like from behind. It’s part of the Trail of Ten Falls, a spectacular, nationally recognized hiking trail that weaves through a dense forested landscape. The trail passes a series of breathtaking waterfalls along a rocky canyon, and descends to a winding creek at the forest floor. This 7.2 mile loop is considered to be a moderate hike, with an overall elevation change of 800 feet.

Please be early/on time. It’s a drive out to this hike so plan accordingly. At 930 once everyone gets to use the restroom, buy their day passes and do introductions we’ll take off. It’s chilly waiting to get started and we want to be respectful of those who arrived on time.

Lastly- don’t let the length of the hike intimidate you. Bring your coffee and a snack and enjoy taking photos. It’s been too long since I’ve been consistently hiking so the pace is brisk walk in the beautiful Fall air.

You want the South Falls Day-Use Area at Silver Falls State Park—that’s the entrance for the South Falls Lodge and café and access to the Trail of Ten Falls.

📍Enter “South Falls Day Use Area” into GPS and follow signs to the South Falls parking lot. The entire park shares that street address, so the destination name is what keeps people from arriving at a different trailhead

PARKING INFO:
For Silver Falls State Park, you need an Oregon State Parks parking permit.

• Day pass: $10 per vehicle for Oregon residents; $12 for out-of-state visitors, including Washington residents.
• Annual pass: $60 for Oregon residents or $75 for nonresidents.
• Buy the day pass when you arrive at the South Falls parking area.

The Northwest Forest Pass and America the Beautiful pass aren’t accepted. It’s a fee per car, so passengers don’t pay separately
