After a short break, the 6th Galway Data Meetup will take place this Wednesday July 20th with talks on data processing at scale. James Harkin (https://ie.linkedin.com/in/james-harkin-94ab163b), CTO of Element Wave (https://elementwave.com/) will explain how they identify trends in milliseconds using Couchbase and Elastic. Ismael Rivera (https://ie.linkedin.com/in/irivera), Lead Software Engineer at Altocloud will also share the experiences of refactoring a monolithic application and underlying data into a microservice-style platform.
Come early as the supply of pizza, beer and seats will be limited!

Ismael will explain the preliminary investment required before refactoring your monolith into independent microservices, and a series of steps, recipes and patterns to help you succeed when refactoring your application and your data into a microservices-style architecture.
Ismael Rivera, Altocloud
Ismael is the Lead Software Engineer at Altocloud. He joined the company when it was founded in 2013, where he focuses on architecting and building its platform. He's been a developer for over 10 years, having worked at the Insight Centre, NUI Galway and Telefonica. He is passionate about distributed computing, APIs, performance and tinkering with hardware.
