Magda will get into what they were, the reasons why they disappeared and how we can bring the good parts of them back to guide our teams through tough times.18:35 Talk: Presence in Practice: Affinity vs. Contrast in Video Game UX - by Ahmed, UX Director.
In 3D games we see many types of user interfaces. In this session you will learn what they are, and how to best select which type of interface should be presented to our players depending on the player's level of 'presence' while playing your game. You will see a case study covering a fictional abstract AAA open world game realised for this talk and how the UI is structured from the ground up while best respecting immersion in our game world and giving the game's core systems room to breathe. You will also learn how to apply this process to your current game project.19:00 Short break
19:10 Talk: Interactive Storytelling with Ink - by Pontus, game developer.
Discover Ink, a narrative scripting language designed for writing branching dialogue and interactive stories. Beyond narrative games, Ink works as a flexible scripting layer for any project where you want to separate dialogue or high-level commands from the underlying code. Can easily be integrated into game engines like Unity, Godot, and Unreal, making it a powerful tool for both writers and developers.19:35 Talk: The anti-woke mob found KreatureKind (aka we have GamerGate at home) - by Anna, game developer.
During the summer of 2025, wholesome cardbattler KreatureKind was targeted by an online mob of "anti-woke" influencers and keyboard heroes, who turned the comment sections into cesspools. This is the story of what happened, and what we can learn from it.20:00 Mingle and last beer at Game Town
