Crusade in the Dead Lands Pt. III
Horror Fantasy Adventures: 3rd -4th level
The once great kingdom of Lombar has been overrun by undead and vampire lords for decades now. The vampires use mortal overseers to watch their serfs and peasants on their plantations as they would slaves or cattle. The characters arrive at the last village and monastery in the realm, Brenner Abbey, in an attempt to bring the decaying country back to life.
Last week the party secured Valdsberg and then moved on to scout Grenshire. The next mission is to liberate as many slave/serfs from the Vampire lord's human minions on the plantation at Grenshire. Many of the humans are able bodied men who could be enlisted to fight the evil lords of the land. The party will likely need a small army to assault the larger estates of the vampire lords.
Abbot Michael tells the party about the human slave fiefdom. To the southeast about 20 miles or so lies the town of Grenshire. There are a few humans who serve the undead lords in the region and this is one of their fiefdoms. They need to farm grains there to keep themselves and the human chattel alive. The steward of this fief is a wicked human knight named Egon who controls and oversees about 100 humans. He forces them to work in the fields and takes whatever women he likes. On occasion a young man or woman is taken away and never seen again, presumably to a vampire lord.
This is a Home-brew campaign using Pathfinder/D&D basic rules.
