Dark Sun: A Harsh World on the Brink
The Dark Sun setting unfolds on Athas, a dying desert world where the crimson sun scorches the land and water is more precious than gold. Once lush and vibrant, Athas was ravaged by reckless magic that drained the planet’s life force, leaving behind endless dunes, jagged mountains, and scattered oases.
Civilization clings to survival in city-states ruled by tyrannical sorcerer-kings—immensely powerful beings who blend arcane mastery with political dominance. These rulers maintain their grip through brutal armies, slave labor, and the suppression of dissent. Outside the cities, the wilderness teems with deadly creatures, raiders, and ancient ruins.
