Important Notes:

1. If you have RSVP’d as “going” but later find you cannot attend, please update your RSVP to “not going” or send us a message at least 3 hours before the event starts.

We will announce the topics on the day of the event.

The “Motto” Plan:

Part 1: Group Discussion

1. Ice Breaker (5 mins)
   • Quick warm-up question about idioms!
   • Example: “What’s the funniest idiom you’ve heard in English or Japanese?”
2. Idiom Challenge (15 mins each in JP/EN)
   • Step 1: You’ll be given a literal translation of an idiom (e.g., “A hand comes out of the throat” 🡪 喉から手が出る).
   • Step 2: Discuss and try to guess the actual meaning!
   • Step 3: Find an equivalent idiom in the other language.
   • Bonus: Some idioms might not have a direct translation—how would you explain them to a language learner?

1. アイスブレイク（5分）
   • ちょっとしたウォームアップクエスチョン！
   • 例：「これまで聞いた中で、一番面白かったイディオムは？」
2. イディオムチャレンジ（日本語＆英語 各15分）
   • ステップ1： イディオムの直訳が出題されます！（例：「喉から手が出る」→ “A hand comes out of the throat”）
   • ステップ2： その本当の意味を考えましょう！
   • ステップ3： 似た意味のイディオムを、もう一つの言語で探しましょう！
   • ボーナス： 直訳できないイディオムは、どう説明すれば伝わる？
