What we’re about
URBEM is a collective of volunteers dedicated to bringing nature closer to the community and mitigating the heat island effect in Lisbon. We already have a growing list of native urban mini-forests implemented across the city, including Bela Vista Park, APA headquarters, Julio Matos Hospital, and Areeiro, with more ready to be planted. We invite the community to join us on a weekly basis for a range of activities that change with the seasons. These include planting, weeding, children’s activities, workshops, and corporate event days, to name a few.
If you would like to spend some time in nature helping with a good cause and connect with eco-lead people, we’d love to welcome you along!

IT'S RAINING PLANTS! HALLELUJAH! ESTÃO A CHOVER PLANTINHAS! ALELUIA!
Social Services, Avenida Afnso Costa 41, Lisbon, al, PTEN: The planting has been done but the real work of making a forest is only just beginning. Join our weekly nurturing sessions with our Forest Guardians - we are gathering together to give our plants the water and nutrients they need to flourish as well as to remove the invasive species that are competing for space. This is a great chance to make friends in the community and learn more about Portuguese native species while doing some valuable work for the environment. Did you know that mycobacterium vacii, a micro-organism found in soil also helps release serotonin, a mood-lifting hormone in our brains? Come get your free dose of happiness - there is no better way than some time spent in nature :).
Please bring a pair of kitchen or garden gloves, a bottle of water to drink and suitable clothes and shoes for outdoor work.

Junte-se às nossas sessões semanais de cuidado e fomento ambiental com os nossos Guardiães da Floresta - estamos a reunir-nos para dar às nossas plantas a água e os nutrientes de que necessitam para se desenvolverem, bem como para remover as espécies invasoras que competem pelo mesmo espaço. Esta é uma grande oportunidade para fazer amigos na comunidade e aprender mais sobre as espécies nativas portuguesas, enquanto se faz algum trabalho de grande relevância para o ambiente.
