What we’re about
Welcome to the "Gaston Go-Getters!" We are entering our second year of exploring Gaston County and surrounding areas. We are a welcoming group and accept members no matter their age or orientation. You are never too old to become a "Go-Getter!"
And...we have just started a 2nd group. We are called "Wine & Friends - The Grapesmith Society." No charge to join. This group will focus more on meeting up to sip and talk about wine. Check us out!
There are a couple of very simple requirements for both groups...and yes, they ARE requirements.
1. You must post a recognizable photo of yourself on your profile before you attend your first event with us. Not your children, not your pets, not a photo of your tattoos! I need to recognize you when you walk in the door.
2. I'm looking for an active group of folks who want to attend outings and support local businesses. Going forward, you will need to attend at least ONE event every six months.
3. If you RSVP, show up! If you must cancel, change your RSVP no later than 24 hours before the event. Three no-shows (or last minute changes) and you will be removed from the group. Emergencies happen and will be taken into consideration.
You are not required, but you are encouraged, to purchase food or drink from establishments that we visit. Thank you for wanting to support "local!"
And then...there is the optional "opportunity" to financially support the "Go-Getters." Moving forward, new members will receive a link to the Venmo account of the organizer. If you are so inclined, please make a donation to help offset the fees associated with Meetup.
If you have an idea for a meetup, something fun that you want to explore with this group, I want to hear about it. Here's to a great year of the "Gaston Go-Getters" in 2025!

"Dashing Through the Snow" - Kings Mountain Little Theater
Joy Performance Center, 202 S Railroad Avenue, Kings Mountain, NC, USThis will be our 2nd opportunity to see a live performance during the month of November. One of our members and I visited the "Joy Performance Center" when they had a recent open house. They did a marvelous renovation of this historic theatre. Sheryl will be co-hosting this fun event. Sign up for the Sunday, November 16, 3:00 pm matinee. Let's meet inside the theatre at 2:45 pm. The play is a production of the "Kings Mountain Little Theatre."
The story: It's four days before Christmas in the tiny town of Tinsel, Texas and a colorful parade of eccentric guests arrive at the tiny Snowflake Inn and deck the halls with holiday hilarity. This is a family-friendly Christmas comedy and more fun than a joyride in a one-horse open sleigh!
***IMPORTANT TO KNOW***No cap on attendance. Guests are welcome. Just add them to your RSVP. You are responsible for ordering your own tickets. Just FYI: I ordered seat: G/1.
Honestly...the website is quite difficult to maneuver. Do not be dismayed. If all else fails, call the box office and they will help you purchase your tickets. Tickets are $10 for seniors and $20 for adults.
We can meet for socializing after the play at "238 Cherokee Grill" just down the street from the theater. Join us as we support local...and
