Summer is almost close to an end. Let’s wrap it up with a trip to the beautiful Oregon Coast. One interesting thing about the Oregon coast is it’s entirely public so no more private resorts barricading nature seekers.

I took some time to research scenic spots that are worth the distance and efforts via https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Oregon_Coast_Hikes

Here’s the rough itinerary:

Day 1 (Tuesday - Sept 8, 2026)
• Drive, ride, reach Newport, Oregon from Seattle
• This will be our base in Oregon Central Coast

Day 2 (Wednesday - Sept 9, 2026)
• Drive, ride, reach Cape Kiwanda
https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Cape_Kiwanda_Hike

Day 3 (Thursday - Sept 10, 2026)
• Drive, ride, reach Depoe Bay
• We will do the Whale watching tour by https://www.oregonwhales.com/
https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Depoe_Bay_Hike

Day 4 (Friday - Sept 11, 2026)
• Drive, ride reach Devils Punchbowl
https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Devils_Punchbowl_Hike
• We will aim to reach this spot before sunrise to be able to see it from the inside at low tide during sunrise. Once we are done hopefully quick enough then we have time to explore the gorgeous tidepools at the beach outside the bowl area.
• Rest and relax during the day
• Drive, ride to Astoria, Oregon. This will be our base in Oregon North Coast.

Day 5 (Sat - Sept 12, 2026)
• Drive, ride reach Arch Cape
https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Arch_Cape_Loop_Hike
• We will aim to reach this spot before sunrise. So, we get to see the arch during low tide. Otherwise, the arch is inaccessible most of the day/ week.
• Rest and relax during the day
• Drive, ride reach Cannon beach in the evening

Day 6 (Sun - Sept 13, 2026)
• Explore Astoria

https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Cathedral_Tree-Coxcomb_Hill_Hike

Day 7 (Mon - Sept 14, 2026)
• Drive, ride reach home

NOTE:
• We are doing a central to north Oregon coast trip to be able to reach scenic viewpoints that are accessible only during low tides on specific dates.

• I don’t think shifting hotels/ motels/ accommodation on a daily basis is good for a trip. So, we will have one base in Oregon central coast and one base in Oregon north coast.

• Base should be in a city/ town with reasonably priced accommodation/ amenities/ manageable transit/ drive to scenic spots around that region

• Everyone has a different level of comfort. So, I’m not gonna fixate on a particular hotel/motel/living situation. As long as we’re meeting each day at a predecided meeting point, we should be good.

• Everyone has different dietary preferences. So, again I’m not gonna pick meal places. You can decide on your own or join someone sharing similar taste as yours.

ACCESSIBILITY:
• Entire coast is free for public to access

• The hikes are more like walks or sightseeing

• If you don’t have a car, you can use https://nwconnector.org to commute. And, https://www.amtrak.com for interstate commute for back and forth to bases.

• The only day where you may need to book a private cab service is Day 3 and Day 4. You can still do Day 3 but will miss low tide and just see the spot from the viewpoint.

CARPOOL:
If you're rider then please pay your good friend who is driving you and share the associated costs.

This is my first time organizing such a long trip. That being said, I’m gonna do my best and request you to not hold grudges or grievances if there are hiccups along the way.

Also, feel free to step up as and when needed.

I hope you join us and get to see our beautiful nature and its marvels.
