Spend two hours tending a native-plant garden on Lake Washington and meeting new friends. Martha Washington Park is a hidden gem on the lake, and its understory garden features Pacific Northwest native plants. Come help maintain it for the community to enjoy.

TWO STEPS TO SIGN UP
1. RSVP here on Meetup.
2. Register with the park so the hosts know you're coming:
https://seattle.greencitypartnerships.org/event/45023/
Participant type: Volunteer. Group: Other / Meetup.

Can't make it? Change your RSVP by Thursday, Oct 8. Later cancellations are marked as no-shows.

WHAT WE'LL DO
- Process seeds. Bring baggies if you'd like to take some home to grow.
- Finish cutting down the meadow patches. This annual cut replaces the traditional controlled burns that maintained oak-camas prairies across the Northwest.
- Rake leaves off the meadow patches and onto the walking paths as mulch, so leaf litter doesn't smother the meadow plants.

WHAT TO BRING
- Water
- Layers for the weather and sturdy shoes
- Optional: garden gloves and hand tools. The site has some to share, plus a first-aid kit.
Snacks and foraged tea are provided.

**There are no restrooms on site.**

WHERE TO MEET
Inside the fenced understory garden on the east side of the park. From the north or south end of the park, follow the trails toward the lake shore. The gate is under the large oak tree.
