π London Community Builders - September Edition
π¬ Theme: Creating shareable content from your gatherings
Hey everyone π
Time for our next gathering! August's discussion on community partnerships was really eye-opening - where we got to is that you should always start with your existing community and work outwards to other groups and organisations. Thanks to Rob for sharing his challenge and letting us workshop it!
This month we're tackling something I know we all wrestle with: how do you capture and share the magic that happens when your community gets together? Photos that don't look staged, videos that don't feel intrusive in the moment, or turning conversations into content your whole community can benefit from.
πΈ What we're unpacking: Content from gatherings
- Taking photos and videos that capture authentic moments (without making it weird)
- Turning great discussions into shareable content - articles, infographics, key insights
- Getting permission and making people comfortable with being featured
- Creating content that serves people who couldn't attend without making them feel left out
- Tools and workflows that don't require a full content team
- What's worked, what's felt forced, and what you'd do differently
Plus the usual space for celebrating recent wins or getting advice on whatever's troubling you.
π» The format:
- 6:15pmβ7:00pm: Arrive any time and settle in with some friendly faces
- 7:00pmβ8:00pm: Guided conversation on this month's theme
- 8:00pm onwards: The official bit wraps at 8:00pm, but let's see where the chat takes us - we can continue on to a nearby pub if we want to
Finding us: We're in The Therapy Room at Bonnington Community Centre, Vauxhall. Ask at the front desk as you come in.
π Who's this for?
This is a monthly gathering for people who run, host, or support real-life community:
- Meetup & IRL event organisers
- Brand-side marketers and community managers
- Independent builders and creators growing in-person audiences
- People who just really care about getting people together
π€ Why I'm doing this
I run Gather, a service that helps brands build in-person communities. This group isn't about clients or case studies though - it's about building a peer circle. I want to connect with and learn from other brilliant London-based community builders. So let's make this our monthly check-in, idea sharing and venting session all at the same time π«Ά
