Writing & Maintaining an Open Source Backup Tool in Python on AWS Lambda

Details

You're invited to a GatorLUG Meeting on April 19, 2017. Meetings are always free and open to the general public.

Agenda:

6:00 - 6:30 Announcements / General Discussion

6:30 - 7:30 Writing & Maintaining an Open Source Backup Tool in Python on AWS Lambda | Martin Smith

Martin will join us to show off a tool written in Python that he recently open sourced. It uses various AWS EC2 APIs to perform serverless backups of Elastic Block Storage (EBS) volumes. Built on AWS Lambda, the tool had to be built differently than any other tool he'd written before. Martin will touch on ideas like #NoOps, DevOps, and others -- explain how they do or don't apply to the ongoing management of this particular tool.

Martin is a Principal Engineer at Rackspace, Inc.

7:30 - 8:00 Open discussion, meet and greet someone new
