What we’re about
Hello! This group is for LGBT (Queer+) and Gay-friendly gamers to explore medium to heavy "Euro" and "American strategy" games. We sometimes play some select shorter casual and party games as warm ups or wind downs, but our focus is strategy gaming. If you are new and want to try you are welcome! We bring the and teach all kinds of games and have access to an extensive store library included with the cover charge, so no worries if you don't have anything to bring (except a willingness to try it and learn). That said, if you do have your own games you want to run or get help trying out you are encouraged to do so! :)
At the start of the event, we will have several game options with kind and patient members and admins who will teach and run them. We can place you into a game that should be right for your preferences and experience level if you come around the start time. We know many great games for beginners that we are thrilled to teach and run. If coming much later than the start time please send a message if you want to be placed into game so we can look out for you. Of course you can also come to play with your own crew or try to run your own games as well.
This group is for everyone and anyone who is kind, courteous and wants to join our community. We do have members who do not identify as LGBT but are definitely enthusiastic allies, though most people do identify as LBTQIA+. As such, it's required to use the pronouns given by our members. Unintentional mistakes can happen but please try to avoid this unpleasant situation as you will be reminded nicely. Name tags will be given and it is encouraged to list your pronouns. If you are ever unsure, it is best to call people by their names or use gender neutral language for everyone. Thanks!
Some more details:
- If your RSVP is "Yes" and you are not going to come, please change your "Yes" to "No" before the event out of courtesy to us and the store so we can adjust our reservation as needed. We give away unused tables around 2 pm, so please let us know if are coming later on.
-Please no play testing unpublished games. There are other groups specifically for that.
-If you have a published game you want to teach and run or have a mini tournament please contact the organizer before and we might be able to accommodate this if the game fits in with the group preferences.
-Please do not come with the intention of promoting any other organization, product (without prior permission), cause or agenda. Of course we encourage you to make friends and then of course you can invite them to your own private games, other groups or events but we do not want people who are just there to try to achieve some kind of other objective. Thank you!
-Please keep your language and topic all-ages. This group is for gaming at a public game store, so language and the games should be suitable for all ages. Adult themed games are banned including "Gay Sauna" and "Cards Against Humanity". Such games are not appropriate for everyone and also are terrible in general anyway, so the are best enjoyed with your own crew in private.
- This group is for strategy gaming. Werewolf and Mafia are banned. There are other groups for that. One night versions can be played though but if you are looking for long form Werewolf we do not offer that.
-We play Co-op sometimes for the right game but generally not. If you only want to play co-op this might not be the group for you. We have done some before though and can do one sure, but we have had people come before who only want co-op and were disappointed they could find players for that exclusively.
-Aside from all being enthusiastic allies of all LGBTQIA+ people, we are not a political group and so please focus discussions primarily on the gaming.
-Buying and selling games or anything else inside a store location is banned. Please do not open your own game shop within the store. Thank you.
