The Southern California Lambda Medical Association (SCLMA) is a professional organization with a mission to provide support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied health and wellness providers and students through networking, social, and educational opportunities. Our group hosts monthly events or meetings, publishes and provides physician referrals, and offers scholarships to medical students.
SCLMA's mission now is threefold:
To provide support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied health and wellness providers and students via social functions, educational sessions, and peer support.
To support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender physicians-in-training through annual scholarship awards and social functions.
To provide leadership, advocacy, and consultation on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health issues by: *educating health care professionals and the general public;providing a referral panel of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender sensitive health and wellness services *opposing discrimination in the health professions *supporting development of public health care policies relevant to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.
