Hike Garrison, Anthony's Nose to Manitou SUNDAY
Details
We'll hike from Garrison station to Manitou station through wooded forest, with waterfront views of the Hudson River and from Anthony's Nose. You should be in GOOD AEROBIC CONDITION for this hike, it's ALMOST 12 MILES. There won't be any crazy rock climbs, but a good opportunity to log some miles without the crowds. There's other trails in the area if you want to explore more. Feel free to bring friends who aren't in the group.
TRAIN FROM NYC:
We'll meet at the clock/information booth in the center of Grand Central at 8:30am. Buy your roundtrip ticket to Garrison before meeting (both Manitou & Garrison are in fare zone 7). We'll take the 8:56am Metro North train arriving at Garrison 10:12am. Return trains from Manitou are at 3:32, 4:29, 5:16pm and 5:28.
DRIVERS:
This hike STARTS and ENDS at different places. Meet us at the Garrison train station at 10:12am Here's the Google pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/ncyHUnUH25LKfFbA9. There's a parking lot there. This is Google Map pin for parking at Anthony's Nose Trailhead, near where the hike ends. https://maps.app.goo.gl/2rKAKunaFw9hDE2V9. It's better to park there than at the Manitou station. There's only a small space at Manitou station and I don't know if it's legal. You'll can take the train or Uber back to your car or I can help drivers arrange a car shuttle. Meaning all the drivers meet in the morning and leave most of their cars at the hike end point at Anthony's Nose Trailhead then drive up together one car to meet us at 10:11am for start of the hike at the Garrison train stop. The hike will end where most of you left your cars in the morning.
FOOD:
There are NO restaurants or stores at either train stations, so bring plenty of water and a hearty lunch and a snack for the train ride back.
GEAR:
Hiking boots or trail runners, warm layers and a rain shell are required. Bug spray is good to keep ticks away.
