Beyond the Gay Mask

A Virtual Gay Men’s Circle for Real Connection

Many gay men learn early in life how to wear masks.

We learn how to be impressive.
How to be funny.
How to be desirable.
How to appear confident and put together.

And sometimes those masks help us survive.

But over time, they can also leave us feeling alone — even when we’re surrounded by people.

Beyond the Gay Mask is a virtual men’s circle created for gay men who want something deeper than surface connection. It’s a space where we can begin loosening the roles we perform and experience what it’s like to be seen more honestly — by ourselves and by each other.

This group is not therapy, and it’s not about fixing yourself.

It’s about creating a space where men can:

• Explore loneliness and connection in an honest way
• Notice the masks we wear and why we wear them
• Experience emotional intimacy without pressure or performance
• Reconnect with what feels meaningful and alive in our lives
• Practice showing up with greater authenticity and self-acceptance

Each gathering includes guided prompts, reflection, and optional sharing. Participation is always voluntary — you are welcome to share as much or as little as feels right for you.

Many men are surprised by how powerful it can be simply to sit in a room (even a virtual one) with others who are willing to be real.

The goal isn’t to become someone new.

It’s to reconnect with who you already are beneath the mask.

Who This Circle Is For

This group may resonate with you if you:

• Feel lonely even when life looks “fine” on the outside
• Want deeper connection with other gay men
• Are curious about authenticity and emotional growth
• Feel tired of performing confidence or having it all together
• Are interested in exploring purpose, meaning, and self-acceptance

What to Expect

• A welcoming and respectful environment
• Clear agreements that support safety and trust
• Gentle facilitation and optional sharing
• Thoughtful conversation and reflection
• A group of men exploring similar questions about life and connection

No previous experience with men’s groups or personal growth work is required.

Just bring yourself as you are.

How to Join

New members begin by connecting briefly with one or both facilitators, to give you a feel for the circle.

If it resonates, participants can choose to continue with the ongoing circle, which meets twice monthly.

Facilitated by

Jon Pinney and Yonatan Arnon

Both facilitators bring personal experience and professional training in identity work, coaching, mindfulness, and group facilitation. Together they create a space where honesty, curiosity, and connection can unfold naturally.

If you’ve been feeling the pull toward deeper connection, you’re not alone.
