March Wellbeing Walk: Heaton park

• Meeting at Heaton Park Tram Stop.

Every month the LGBT Foundation host a Wellbeing Walk in a new Green Space in Manchester.
For this month’s Wellbeing Walk we have picked the iconic Heaton Park, where we will take a 1-hour circular walk exploring all the beautiful nature on offer, with a stop along the way to see the adorable animal farm of course!

What to Bring:

• Comfortable, sturdy shoes
• A waterproof layer
• A bottle of water
• Appropriate clothing to weather

Travel:
We will meet at 12pm at the entrance to Heaton Park tram stop just up the stairs as you get off. You will need to get either the yellow or green line if you’re travelling by tram!

There is also the 135 bus that stops directly outside our meeting point.

Accessibility:
The majority of Heaton Park’s paths are wide enough for wheelchair users, and the entirety of the walk will be on footpaths with consistent benches for those who need rests during the walk!

Time for a leisurely stroll along the River Mersey starting from Vale Road in Heaton Mersey (see map) to Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens, returning via Didsbury Park

Time for a 4.5 mile stroll along the Peak Forest Canal from Chadkirk Chapel Car Park to Marple Viaduct and Locks, returning along the Canal to Chadkirk Chapel

Mostly a flat walk with few inclines, but not wheelchair accessible in parts. Dogs on leads welcome.

Please bring waterproofs as well as a packed lunch.
