Please read the following BEFORE signing up. This is an in-life group shoot.

For any real world meetup, there still need to be strict rules for engagement when meeting in person. State law allows group gatherings up to 10 people.

Do NOT sign up for this if:

  • you have ANY sickness symptoms (even just a head or tummy ache)
  • you are not willing to wear a face mask properly over both mouth and nose at ALL times when with the group.
  • you are not willing to keep a distance of at least 6 ft / 2m from any other person during the event at ALL times.
  • you do not feel comfortable to attend group meetings

As always in this group, strictly no guests, ever. These are strict, non-negotiable rules. If anybody shows up and puts the group at risk, they will be banned from the group. I chose a location that makes it easy to stay away from each other, while still profiting from our safety in a group paradigm.

We will go to Deer Island, Boston's water treatment plant. If you haven't been there, it is a really cool location with lots of interesting views. There are industrial sights, the very unique, egg-shaped water tanks, a view straight on their control rooms when standing on the hill, but there are also very serene water views as well as cityscapes if you bring your long lens.

The sun sets at 7:30, we will meet half an hour after that so it's dark and most people are gone from the parking lot. See the photo section for some inspiration and an idea what can be seen. At 9:30, a 10% crescent moon will set right behind the Prudential and the adjacent two buildings, that is the (composite) photo above. We need to be in a specific location for that to be shot. Bring your long lens, at least 200 mm, better longer. The photo above is taken with a 200mm lens, the moon is photoshopped in. Depending on cloud cover, we may or may not see the moon.

I will explain settings, locations and approaches onsite, as everybody gathers around me in a 12 ft circle. Please arrive on time in the parking lot, otherwise you may miss the group. Remember to have your face mask on when you approach the group. We will go down the east side of the island so that we arrive for the moonset at the south-west end.
