We have the potential for a G2-G3 Kp 6-7 Aurora storm tomorrow night.
https:/theauroraguy is the website of Vincent Ledvina, who is a terrific resource about all things Aurora, including how to understand Aurora predictions.
There is some question about when the storm will hit the US, and whether this will be at night time.
As always, weather is a bit iffy: Some clouds are predicted. Check the forecast tomorrow. Check out Vincent's web site.
Any dark north facing spot will do.
Greys Beach (Yarmouth) in the south, and Halibut Point (Rockport) in the north have worked well for us in the past.
Choose a fast wide angle lens for this: 14mm, 20mm to give you as much sky as possible, and still capture foreground.
Auroras can move fast, so exposure times of 4 to 8 sec will give you structure. WB of 4000K is a good place to start. ISO can vary from 400-3200 depending on the brightness of the Aurora. Faster lenses, 1.8, 2.8 help with trying to stay at lower ISOs. Keep in mind that Auroras can fluctuate in brightness.
Good luck to us all, and post some images!
