Let's try some more astrophotography: comet 10P / Tempel 2 is in the sky at a convenient time and Tuesday is supposed to be a clear night.

The comet has already passed its peak, but is still observable. You will need a long lens and a sky tracker will make it much easier to keep the comet centered in your composition.

A 600 mm lens will give you a nice green blob as seen above, if you have a 2x teleconverter, you might get to 1200mm. It will be a nice challenge, but always rewarding to see the result.

Download Stellarium if you don't already have it, it makes finding comets much easier (the main image is a screen shot).

At the start of the meeting, the Milky Way's Dark Horse will still be visible, it sets an hour later, but the Milky Way itself will be up all night, making for a second nice object to photograph. Perhaps get some MW details with a shorter focal length on your tracker or a wide field image?

And if that's not enough, there's a lighthouse, too! Temperature will be in the upper 40s, so bring a jacket.

Please check in with the organizer and no guests, as always.
