Beach Walk & Good Conversation | Brighton to St Kilda
Details
A gentle seaside walk from Brighton to St Kilda, for people who enjoy meaningful conversation without pressure or performance.
It's 8km along the foreshore - around two and a quarter hours at an easy pace, with stops. Flat the whole way, and beautiful.
We walk in small clusters that naturally re-form as we go, so you'll end up talking with several different people rather than the same one the whole way.
Where to meet
π Brighton Beach Station carpark, behind the station near the bicycle parking (see the map in the photos)
π 4:00pm for a 4:15pm start
πΆ First stop is the Beach Boxes
Rough timings
- 4:00pm β meet at Brighton Beach Station carpark
- 4:15pm β start walking
- ~4:35pm β toilet stop at Brighton Baths
- ~5:40pm β passing Elwood Beach
- ~6:30pm β arrive St Kilda, optional dinner
On the walk
There's light structure so nobody feels awkward arriving on their own, but plenty of freedom to just enjoy the views and the company.
Good Conversation questions will be available - completely optional.
We'll regroup at a few points along the way, including the toilet stop at Brighton Baths. You're welcome to peel off at any station along the route if you've had enough - no need to explain, just let one of us know.
This is for you if you enjoy
- Thoughtful, curious conversation
- Being outdoors and moving your body gently
- Social connection that feels relaxed and human
- Meeting likeminded people without loud venues or small talk overload
What to bring
Comfortable shoes, layers, water and sun protection. It's the bay, so it's usually cooler and windier than the city.
Weather: we walk in light rain. If it's genuinely miserable we may post here by midday - check the event page before you leave home.
Afterwards
Optional dinner in St Kilda from around 630pm for anyone who'd like to keep talking. Suggestion: Mya Tiger - the food is lovely, and there's a hidden bar upstairs worth a look.
Running late?
We start walking at 4:15pm and follow the foreshore path the whole way, so we're easy to find. Either walk quickly along the path to catch us up, or take a train or tram to a point further along and wait by the beach path for us to pass. Elwood Beach around 5:40pm is the easiest place to join us. The route map and timings are in the photos.
Please note the host won't be checking their phone once we set off - they're on the walk too, and they'd rather be present with the group than on a screen. Everything you need is in this description.
Who it's for
Young-at-heart adults, most of our members somewhere between 25 and 50, though the vibe matters more than the number. Strictly 18+.
Come as you are. Conversation's an invitation here, never an obligation.
Cost: free.
