Android Meetup at JFokus

Details

Welcome to the first meetup of 2016, this time we will be hosted by JFokus at Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center. We will be in Room C4 on level 2.

Food and drinks will be available and after the meetup we're welcome to join the ongoing conference party.

From Mattias, JFokus:

Its important that you don't show up too early for this meetup. Jfokus session ends at 18.00 and attendees need to exit the rooms and leave to avoid "strul". If you come earlier, the hotel have a bar in the reception for a "after-work-beer" while waiting.

You should enter the venue in the "canyon" between the hotel and the Waterfront Congress Centre. Walk directly down to the rooms at level 2. There will be coat-hangers in the rooms instead of using the Waterfront cloakroom.

For people at waiting list... We have room for more people, but all food is already ordered. I think we can host up to 80 people, if the last 20 eat before they come to the meetup rather the eating the wrap we offer.

Presentations

Amira Lakhal (Valtech)

"IOT, Timeseries and prediction with Android, Cassandra and Spark"

IOT has a massive potential and its impact in our daily life is important. Here is an exemple of using a connected object and analysing its data: we'll see how to collect data using the accelerometer sensor of your smartphone. Then, we'll store it in Cassandra as a Timeseries model. Finally, we'll analyse those data and predict the activity with Spark. We will see a live demo on stage to show this solution working in realtime.

Hans Dockter (Gradleware)

"Deep Dive Into the Gradle-Based Android Build System"

This talk will provide an in-depth tour of the new Android buildsystem, which is designed to elegantly deal with the diversity of theAndroid ecosystem and the demands of modern development practices. We will go through its concepts and features such as variant support and the latest performance improvements.

The new build system is also key component to the Android Studio. We will show how this makes Android Studio much more powerful than otherIDEs. We'll also discuss how the build system can be leveraged to build powerful CI solutions and how to integrate it into large renterprise build processes.

We will give a sneak preview of a new major version of the GradleAndroid plugin, which comes with another massive boost for performance and variant aware dependency management.
