International Women’s Day (IWD) occurs on March 8th every year. It marks a moment to celebrate and provide visibility for the incredible contributions of women around the world and is a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
IWD is Women Techmaker's annual event campaign where our community hosts events in March and April. We create connections, educate and inspire, and recognize that we still have a ways to go to close the gender gap.
Theme: #ProgressNotPerfection
This year our theme celebrates all kinds of progress - big or small - and the strength we demonstrate when we don’t let fear hold us back from following our dreams. Learn and collaborate with from career changers, entrepreneurs and early career speakers.

Wesley Chun, Developer Advocate, Google
WESLEY CHUN (@wescpy) is the author of Prentice Hall's bestselling Core Python series, co-author of Python Web Development with Django, and has written for Linux Journal, CNET, and InformIT. He is currently an engineer & Sr. Developer Advocate at Google focused on Google Cloud serverless, machine learning, higher education, and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets & Slides) APIs. Wesley has several decades of programming, teaching, and writing experience, and was previously at Sun, HP, Cisco, and was one of the original Yahoo!Mail engineers. He holds degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Music from the University of California and is a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation.
Ever want to integrate Google technologies into the web & mobile apps you [or your developer teams] build for your organization or your customers'? Most Google Workspace applications like Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides have a developer API. In this session, we explore each Workspace productivity tool, giving you an idea of its developer component, provide insight on use cases, and show some code demonstrating how to access its data & functionality. In addition to REST APIs, there's also Google Apps Script, the Workspace serverless platform providing an easier on-ramp to programmatic Workspace access.
Using Workspace APIs in simple scripts is one thing. It's another thing altogether if you wish to deploy apps to the cloud without having to worry about virtual machines, getting them connected to the Internet, figuring out operating systems, databases, security, and so on. Wouldn't it be great if you could just deploy code and make it globally available in under a minute? Attendees will also get a quick introduction to Google Cloud serverless platforms that deliver EXACTLY THAT, giving users the easiest & fastest way to deploy code with the least amount of effort. This session wraps-up with some inspirational examples of what you can build. With all this knowledge, you can begin to leverage the power of Google Cloud, whether Workspace, GCP, or both, in your own apps!
