Session title: From Zero to Tree: A Pythonic Walkthrough of Supervised Learning for AI Devs

Session abstract: This talk is a practical, beginner-friendly walkthrough of the supervised machine learning pipeline in Python, tailored for AI developers who want to refresh or solidify their ML foundations. We'll demystify supervised vs. unsupervised learning, then dive deep into building a complete ML workflow—from data preparation with pandas to training and validating a Classification Tree using scikit-learn. You'll walk away with a clear, hands-on understanding of the ML process, plus resources to explore more advanced topics and libraries.

In this talk, we’ll go beyond buzzwords and into the practical mechanics of supervised learning using Python. We’ll start with a quick overview of ML goals and where it fits within the AI ecosystem, then zoom in on supervised learning and the complete workflow behind it

This is a code-forward session, great for developers who know Python but want a clearer picture of how ML works behind the scenes. Whether you’re new to ML, transitioning from a dev background, or just want to connect the dots between theory and implementation, this talk gives you the full pipeline, explained and executed live.

Session title: Build With AI, Gemini 101

Session abstract: In this workshop, we explore the Gemini API, study its integration with AI Studio, and examine its deployment in Vertex AI. We'll uncover Gemini's multimodal capabilities, highlighting how it can process and analyze diverse types of data. Additionally, we'll investigate techniques for utilizing the model through zero-shot and few-shot prompting, empowering you to maximize its potential with minimal initial input. By the end of this workshop, you'll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively leverage Gemini's versatile features across various platforms and applications.

Please park in the visitor lot of the Union Deck (located at 8755 Student Union Ln, Charlotte, NC 28262). Walk into the Student Union from your parking space, down the hall, turn right by Starbucks to proceed outside. Cross the street at Craver Road. Proceed past Mebane Hall on the right. Turn right at the next intersection and proceed past the Eagle statue to Woodward. You will enter the second floor. Proceed to the first floor via the stairs or the elevator and room 106 is on the left (after exiting either method).
