CALENDAR (In progress).
Speaker 1. Anna Artiges.
Bio.
Description de la présentation.
Speaker 2. Aleksandr Koshkarov.
Bio. Aleksandr Koshkarov is a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Sherbrooke, under the supervision of Dr. Tahiri Nadia, with extensive experience in both AI and advanced data analysis across fields such as bioinformatics, ecology, agriculture, data-driven management, and sociology. He has led an AI department at a university, combining deep expertise in both fundamental and applied research. Aleksandr holds an MSc in Data Science from the University of Sheffield (UK) and has been actively engaged in data science since 2010.
Titre de la présentation. Agentic AI: Levels, Opportunities, and Use Cases.
Description de la présentation. This presentation explores Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI), a rapidly emerging field beyond traditional generative models, characterized by autonomy, proactive decision-making, and goal-oriented behaviors. Participants will learn about the essential concepts that distinguish agentic AI from generative AI tools like ChatGPT, understand the five progressive levels of AI agents, and discover how these intelligent agents operate. Practical frameworks will be highlighted with concrete examples. The talk will also highlight several specific use cases, particularly in higher education and research. Join us to explore how agentic AI is reshaping opportunities across industries and opening new frontiers in education and innovation.

Hosted By
Nadia Tahiri, PhD, Organizer
Dr. Nadia Tahiri received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher working on QSAR/PBPK model prediction in environmental health sciences at the University of Montreal, Canada. She has received several awards and scholarships, author of scientific works that have been published in prestigious journals, conferences, and book chapters. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sherbrooke. Her research interests include bioinformatics, phylogenetic tree, phylogeography, clustering, classification, computational biology, supertree, and consensus tree. Nadia is also very involved in community initiatives that promote women in technology and make committee programs more inclusive (the right measures for equity, diversity, and inclusion) as a committee scientific, an active member of ACM Canadian Celebration of Women in Computing, an ambassador of Women Techmakers, and an organizer of GDG Montreal (collaboration)/GDG Cloud Sherbrooke (lead).
