GDG Dublin collaborates with Workday Dublin for an evening of talks and networking. This will be a post-celebration of the International Women's Day Event on March 08th.

The theme for this event is "Impact the Future".

We all have the power and the responsibility to impact the future of technology and society, with AI as a major part of shaping our world. What will that future look like? And how will we build it?

Agenda

6:00 PM: Open doors

Networking with some pizza

6:45 PM: Lessons learned conducting team code reviews - Izabela Pogorzelska

If you're involved in coding, chances are you also engage in code reviews. Do you tackle this task solo or team up with your peers?
Team code reviews are common practice in many companies, yet individual perceptions of them can vary widely. Depending on the process and personal viewpoint, some may find them enjoyable and a meaningful contribution, while others may perceive them as an inefficient use of time.
In my talk, I'll delve into my personal journey of conducting code reviews with my team and the valuable lessons I've learned along the way.

7:15 PM: Addressing Algorithmic Bias: Fostering Fair and Inclusive Healthcare - Marjia Siddik

The integration of AI into healthcare holds both promise and peril. While AI algorithms can improve diagnosis and treatment, they also risk perpetuating existing health disparities if biases aren't addressed.

This talk will explore:

The dangers of algorithmic bias, include misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, and poorer health outcomes for marginalized groups.

How bias can creep in at every stage of AI development, from flawed data to the metrics used for evaluation.

Real-world examples demonstrate the urgent need for change.

A potential solution: Althical, a platform that puts physicians at the center of AI development to create bias-reducing and explainable solutions.

7:45 PM: Job Application Myths - Busting Imposter Syndrome - Rose Farrell

Applying for a job is hard - you will likely change jobs fewer than 10 times in your entire life. Most of us though have a monster called "Imposter Syndrome" on our shoulder telling us we're not good enough. How do you defeat this monster and get the job you are right for?

8:15 PM: Closing remarks
