Phil Nash, Developer Relations Engineer @ IBMPractical Web AI: Built-In, Browser Based, BrilliantAI progress is running away on the server-side, where the GPUs live, but the web platform is never that far behind. In this talk we're going to explore the incredible applications you can build in the browser today and in the near future. You'll see how to build an offline-capable, speech to speech language translation app, a babelfish, using nothing but the web platform. Through this app we'll explore the different ways we can run AI models in the browser today and what may be built into the browser in the future. From low-level standards to high-level experiments, you'll learn how to work with AI on the web.
Katie Barnett, Android Evangelist @ BilueLet's Brew KMP: Shared Code & Shared Coffees
Take the first steps into the exciting world of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Compose Multiplatform (CMP)! This talk is designed for multiplatform-curious developers who love a native experience but don't want to be limited to just one platform.
We'll embark on a practical journey together by building a simple group coffee ordering application. You'll see firsthand how KMP allows us to write business logic once and deploy it to multiple targets, making development more efficient and consistent.
Our coffee order includes:
- What you need to get set up: Kickstart your KMP development environment
- KMP vs. Native Android Development: Exploring the key differences and similarities, highlighting where KMP shines and how it integrates with existing Android practices.
- UI: How CMP works to build UI cross platform
- Lessons Learned Along the Way: What has tripped me up in this new way of thinking!
