In this talk, we will discuss the various techniques to reduce model size, hardware latency, and processing time with little degradation in model accuracy of modern machine learning systems. The theoretical background of weight quantization and how multiple data types can be utilized to store model parameters will be presented. We will also touch on some state-of-the-art techniques from recent quantization papers before moving on to their practical application with Tensorflow and Tensorflow Lit

CODELAB: Semantic Search and Image Search with MongoDB Atlas and Google Cloud Vertex AI

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to implement semantic search and image search using MongoDB Atlas and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Semantic search is a more sophisticated method of finding relevant content than traditional keyword-based search. It considers the context of the user's query and returns results that are semantically similar to the query, even if they do not contain the same keywords. Image search allows users to find images based on their visual similarity to a query image.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Create a MongoDB Atlas cluster and import a dataset
  • Generate text and multimodal embeddings for your data and images using the text embedding-gecko and multimodal embedding models in Vertex AI
  • Create a vector search indices for text and image search in MongoDB Atlas
  • Perform semantic search queries for text and image search queries using the respective indices

By the end of this workshop, you will have a working understanding of how to implement semantic search and image search using MongoDB Atlas and Google Cloud Vertex AI."
