Your Git History Is an API - Act Like It
by Sevil Guler, Staff Engineer @ SitooWe often write commit messages like quick notes to ourselves: âfix stuff,â âupdate,â âfinal final fix.â But CI systems, release pipelines, and even AI tools are already consuming that history. If machines depend on your Git log, itâs not a diary. Itâs an interface. In this talk, weâll explore what changes when you treat commits as structured events instead of casual comments - how that shift enables deterministic versioning, trustworthy release contracts, and clearer communication about what actually changed. And weâll look at what breaks when commit discipline falls apart. Once you see Git as an API for your delivery system, itâs hard to unsee it.
