Join us for an inspiring evening at Contributing to Open Source With AI Responsibly, a free in-person event featuring engaging session by Jess Lowe.

🎤 Ever thought about using AI to help you contribute to open source, but worried about being a burden on maintainers? This is the session for you.
We’ve all seen the headlines: AI is making us 10x faster. But if you look at the inbox of an open-source maintainer, it tells a different story. While AI has made it easier to contribute, it’s also led to a massive flood of "AI Slop"—pull requests that look fine at a glance but are actually just more work for the people running the project.
In this session, Jess Lowe (Software Engineer on the Google Open Source Security team) is pulling back the curtain on what it’s actually like to maintain high-stakes projects like OSV (Open Source Vulnerabilities) in the age of LLMs.

What we’ll be covering:
✅ Good vs Slop contributions
✅ How to find and solve the right issues
✅ How to ship PRs that maintainers actually love
✅ Hands on workshop using Gemini CLI, Antigravity and Jules to understand complex repos.

Join us for a deep dive into how to be the kind of contributor that maintainers actually trust.

Note: Bring your laptop for the workshop portion! 🚀
