Get started with Kubernetes on GKE

Details
Welcome to GDG Cloud Philly's second meetup. In this meetup we'll be covering one of the most popular modern technologies, Kubernetes!
Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. This project was pioneered by Google, which applied lessons learned from running containerized applications for over 15 years, to create a production ready system that anyone can use. Kubernetes can be ran in all major public clouds as well as on bare metal hardware.
We will cover how to configure and run production workloads with Kubernetes using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine). GKE provides all of the setup and management of the Kubernetes cluster so you don't have to go through the tedious process of setting up the cluster yourself.
Some topics that we'll be covering:
- Set up a GKE cluster
- Kubernetes basics
- Deploying an application
- Load Balancing & Scaling
- Monitoring
- Cost optimization
What would you like to learn about Kubernetes and GKE?
Food & Beverages will be provided, please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements.
