8:00 AM: Welcome and housekeeping

Welcome and housekeeping

8:15 AM: Mehul's Session

Introduction to problem solving with Machine Learning

9:00 AM: Rosanne's Session

How to make a research community that’s positive, vibrant and wholesome? Ten years into what’s called the deep learning revolution, we are left with an ML society that is instead filled with false promises, misguided idealism, one where “influence” becomes the biggest determinant of money and power, and one that promotes feelings of self-doubt and isolation. In this talk, I will share what I had felt a disconnected, stagnated ML community (or the lack thereof) in the beginning of 2020 changed my career and life goal, and our ongoing efforts since then of creating a working community for all.

9:45 AM: Suzana's Session

In this talk I’ll give an overview of BigScience – a one-year long research workshop on large multilingual datasets and large language models and the biggest international AI research collaboration to date. We’ll also have a look at T0, the first model released by the Prompt Engineering Working Group and how we can go from a research idea to building a demo using HuggingFace Spaces.

10:30 AM: Vikram's Session

More than 50% of the ML projects end up being scrapped before are put into production. Reasons vary but a significant portion is due to lack of clear mechanisms around ML operations. In this talk we will go through some basics about how to get a ML project up and running for your use case. We will build a model, deploy it and add pipelines in place to perform retraining and auto-deployments. Let's take your ideas into production.

11:15 AM: Paige's Session

Current and future of Machine Learning

12:00 PM: Thanks, Survey and Prizes

Hang around to participate in our survey, learn about upcoming events and win some cool prizes!
