What we're about

This group is the Fribourg chapter of the Google Developer Groups (http://developers.google.com/groups).

Our goal is to organize "practical" meetups in the form of short workshops. Our "hands on" workshops will supplement events such as Tech Meetings (http://www.techmeetings.ch/), Webmardi (https://www.meetup.com/webmardi/), or Innovation Club (http://www.innovation-club.ch/).

Members are students, developers, sysadmins, hackers or anyone interested in new technologies. During the workshops you will actually learn new technologies and acquire new skills in a friendly atmosphere. We advise you to come with your notebook to fully benefits from the workshops.

Disclaimer: GDG Fribourg is an independent group; our activities and the opinions expressed here should in no way be linked to Google, the corporation. To learn more about the GDG program, visit https://developers.google.com/groups/

Jacques Supcik, GDG Organizer

Jacques Supcik is a full time professor in the Computer Science and Communication Systems faculty of the Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture of Fribourg. In his free time, he continues to write code, learn things and tinker with technology, but once a week, he goes out with his horse for a long ride in the forest.

His favorite programming languages are Go and Python. He also likes to code using Kotlin and he is currently learning Rust. He teaches Java for the students in the first year (Introduction to programming) and C and ARM assembler for the students in the second year (Embedded systems). He also gives a lecture on Operating Systems.

Lucy Linder, GDG Organizer

I am a passionate engineer fond of octopuses.

It took me a while to find my path, but as soon as I started programming, I knew it would define me for the rest of my life. I love new challenges and learning new technologies. I was involved in projects in many different domains, from quantum computing for particle physics to retail store interfaces. As of now, I don't know what I really love (as long as I can crunch code), just what I don't: pure data science, training deep neural networks and system maintenance (sysadmin).

Aside from my work, I enjoy reading (especially time travel fictions), sport and spending time with other passionate people.
