DevFest hosts a vibrant community of developers from different countries to help you network, learn, and grow!

Explore developer tools from Google and connect with different developers at the University of Malta.

In collaboration with the Department of AI, Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta, we’re thrilled to present an exciting workshop on computer vision techniques. This interactive session will introduce you to the basics of computer vision, with a hands-on approach to learning and guided support.

Cat or Dog? Hands-On with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)

Matthias Bartolo,

Matthias Bartolo (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc.IT degree (Hons.) in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Malta with First Class Honours. He is also currently pursuing an M.Sc. degree at the University of Malta. His main research areas are in computer vision, specifically focusing on object detection and saliency ranking, as well as image processing. He is actively involved in various projects related to these areas, contributing to advancements in computer vision techniques and applications where he also co-authored a number of peer reviewed papers. He was also chosen as a member of the Google Developers Group in Malta and contributes to various projects and initiatives within the group and the university. In 2024, he was honoured with the Dean's List Award from the Faculty of ICT, recognising his outstanding academic achievements.
