About us
Welcome to Geekocracy: the best Meetup group for fun events with your fellow geeks and gamers! The goal of this group is to coordinate fun and inclusive social events — like happy hours, game nights, movie premieres, etc. — to get out from behind our TV screens and make new friends. Geek culture is taking over the world and we're going to be in the middle of it! If anyone has recommendations or would like to help with organizing events, reach out to me or one of our event organizers.
GROUP POLICIES (PLEASE READ)
No-shows: The participation of our members is what makes Geekocracy fun, and it’s important for us to have an accurate headcount. Please arrive promptly to events or let the host know if you are delayed. If you do not plan to come, CHANGE YOUR RSVP TO "NO" before the event or contact the host. If you do not, you will be marked "no-show." Repeat offenders will receive a warning and may be removed without further notice.
Behavior: Harassing, annoying, and poor behavior is grounds for removal. Complaints from multiple members may result in removal. Please be respectful of your fellow geeks!
***All events are strictly 18+ unless with a parent or legal guardian***
***Please have a visible picture of yourself when requesting to join***
***No soliciting or proselytizing**

Project Hail Mary in theaters!
Location not specified yetLet's go watch the eagerly awaited adaptation of Andy Weir's sci-fi novel that we all enjoyed at Book Club! Afterward, we'll get dinner.
What it's about: A man wakes up from a coma millions of miles from Earth with no idea who he is or what he's doing there. Things get even wilder from there.
Get tickets: We will be doing the 3:15 Dolby Cinema showing on Sunday, March 22. Get them at Fandango or AMC Theatres.
So far, we have seats F5-F15 and G9-10. Please leave a comment with yours. Don't wait too long to get your tickets!

Book Club: "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem
craft street kitchen, 3153 Curlew rd, oldsmar, FL, USWe're reading a 1961 science fiction classic. It's not super long. Finishing the book is encouraged but not required as long as you don't mind spoilers. Many folks are also finishing the previous book club selection,"Red Rising," a personal favorite of mine.
**Please update your RSVPs by 6 p.m. on the day of the meetup! NO-SHOW POLICY ENFORCED**Summary: A psychologist travels to a space station orbiting the planet Solaris, which is covered by a vast, sentient ocean. The ocean manifests the crew's repressed memories as physical, living "visitors," forcing them to confront their past traumas and the limits of human understanding when faced with an alien intelligence that defies comprehension.
The venue: We are meeting for food at Craft Street Kitchen in Oldsmar. I'm told they have excellent food. See the menus here.
Where to get it: You can borrow the ebook and audiobook with a library card through Libby.
