What we’re about
Welcome to Geekocracy: the best Meetup group for fun events with your fellow geeks and gamers! The goal of this group is to coordinate fun and inclusive social events — like happy hours, game nights, movie premieres, etc. — to get out from behind our TV screens and make new friends. Geek culture is taking over the world and we're going to be in the middle of it! If anyone has recommendations or would like to help with organizing events, reach out to me or one of our event organizers.
GROUP POLICIES (PLEASE READ)

If you do not, you will be marked "no-show." Repeat offenders will receive a warning and may be removed without further notice.

See all- Book Club: "Everything Is Tuberculosis" (and pie)Village Inn Restaurant, Tampa, FL
Summary: Tuberculosis has been entwined with humanity for millennia. Once romanticized as a malady of poets, today tuberculosis is a disease of poverty that walks the trails of injustice and inequity we blazed for it.
In 2019, John Green met Henry, a young tuberculosis patient in Sierra Leone, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit, Green has become a vocal and dynamic advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, treatable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing 1.5 million people every year.
In Everything is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story, woven through with the scientific and social histories of how tuberculosis has shaped our world and how our choices will shape the future of tuberculosis.
The venue: We are meeting for food (and pie?) at Village Inn in Tampa near Waters Avenue. Why? I have no idea. I'm there for the pie. I cannot say whether or not you will contract tuberculosis at Village Inn.
Where to get it: You can borrow the audiobook with a library card through Libby or download the Kindle file here.
