GeekOut Bristol meet - December 31st: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If you've got nothing to do on the 31st of December, I.E New Years Eve, then I think I have the solution for you. In the Old Market Tavern from 6pm, we'll be hosting a special GeekOut South-West event.

An event where we'll not have the books; but we'll still have some of the games. An event where we'll not have quite as large of a plan; but we've got something... Interesting.

It's the time of the year where we should all reflect on what we want to do in the year ahead... and what we're most thankful for this year. As such, I'm proud to announce the GeekOut South-West New Years Eve special.

There's a few REALLY simple things that you MUST take note of with this special event however...

•Unfortunately, we will be required to make people sign up to this event. We have a limited number of passes to hand out - and we need you to sign up in order to join us. If you've not signed up, you're not getting a pass - End of.

•We are an 18+ event. We'll be there until about 1am.

Gaming

The number of games we're bringing is smaller, due to the size of this event. We'll have our usual Quiplash and Drawful 2 on the tablet and we'll be bringing the GOCade, which has a few more games (and a list of what works on there is compiled). We'll be bringing only social board games, in an effort to get everyone to chat and celebrate the new year in.

Oh and PROTIP for anyone who wonders what's new exactly. For this event only, I've got dry wipe markers... and a whole set of blank Cards Against Humanity cards.

Cosplay

Heck, this event is different to usual, so here's what I propose! Come along in costume - In a mish mash of whatever you feel. Make the weirdest combination and you might earn a bonus prize!

Got a hat? Cool! Got some awesome gauntlets? Why not shove em on? How about some really cool heroic boots? Come show them off - Make the weirdest mish mash possible!

Competition (8pm-9pm)

In this competition, you simply need to talk to us all about what your geeky plans for 2017 are and how you hope to achieve them.

Are you wanting to go to Japan to go and sight-see in 2017?

Perhaps you’ve got a lot of anime to watch?

Wait, don’t tell me: You’re gonna be gaming through the whole year?

Whatever your plans, write them down before attending the event. If you haven’t, don’t worry, I’ll give you a brief, a pen (or pencil) and some paper at 8pm when we start. We’ll be sharing the best ones on social media. When we say best, they can be funny, they can be inspiring, they can be just a damned good idea. They should represent who you are as best as you can… And you must do it in no more than 150 words.

Ah yes, as always, there are prizes to be won, so here we go..!

1st Prize: £25 cash, Random Mystery Gift & Prize from the Old Market Tavern, 3 game codes and a poster of your choice.

2nd Prize: £15 cash, Random Mystery Gift & Prize from the Old Market Tavern, 2 game codes and a poster of your choice.

3rd Prize: £10 cash, Random Mystery Gift & Prize from the Old Market Tavern, 1 game code and a poster of your choice.

I don’t even have a say as to what these prizes are! They’re a pretty big surprise. We might also have a random prize for a bonus runner up. The winners will be chosen in a democratic style and will be held in the main bar area, by the door to the conservatory.
