18+ Event

We play a lot of board games at our events... However, I've noticed that some attendees don't feel comfortable playing them. That's okay! For this month's event, we invite you to come and have a taster of different games.

Wanna grab some grub with us before the event? Great! We have a table for 8 booked for Wagamama's, so thanks to those who voted. If you want to join us but didn't vote, please note we cannot guarantee you'll be near us, but you'll be more than welcome to come along!

MAIN EVENT: 14:00-Midnight (Old Market Tavern)

Want to get into board gaming? Perhaps you're a board game virtuoso? Whoever you are, we've got a game for you, with easy-to-follow rules and instructions. Oh and even our competition is board game themed!

PLEASE NOTE:

Food & drink can NOT be brought in with you to the Old Market Tavern. If you are caught with food and drink on the premises, you will be asked to leave until you've disposed of your food or drink.

There will be a food menu at Old Market Tavern in the evening! The food is cheap and it's delicious - usually available from 6pm.

Final note: If you are asked for ID by the bar staff, we will not vouch for your age - You must provide ID.

Been looking for an excuse to play board games whilst in costume? Me too. So this is your chance to get dressed up as your favourite characters and play board games with friends, both old and new alike.

*CHANGING FACILITIES* If you want to change into a costume when here, please note there are no changing facilities. There are just standard toilet cubicles - Which are fine to change in, but consider this first.

COMPETITION: Make Your Own Board Game (Results 9pm)
----------------------

You need to design your own board game. You may, if you wish, bring materials along with you, however you must use the following requirements for your game:

> The game must involve a board
> You will have a choice of:
> Up to 96 playing pieces (... That's a lot of pieces)
> An up-to 48 blank card deck (dry wipe markers will be present)
> A standard playing card deck
> Up to 12 dice (you choose how many sides)
> Up to 5 A4 pages, where you can design/your own tokens/materials.

You will need to write the rules of your game down, no more than 1000 words. You do not need to physically make the game, but we will have tools to do so.

You MAY create a variation on an existing game, if you wish.

If you wish, you may present your game to me at any point in the event and show me how it's played.

PRIZES:

1st Place: £25, a GeekOut poster and first dibs on a physical prize.
2nd Place: £15, a GeekOut poster and second dibs on a physical prize.
3rd Place: £10, a GeekOut poster and whatever's left of the physical prizes.
