Geek Slink Belly Dance: Session 3

"We have come here to chew bubble gum and shimmy...and we're all out of bubble gum!"

Welcome to our 3rd Session of Geek Slink Belly Dance. Our goal for 2013 is to continue to find ways to make Work outs more FUN!!!!

Geek Slink is a unique Belly Dance experience designed for anyone and everyone interested in Belly Dance. At its heart, Belly Dance (or Oriental Dance) is a folkloric dance style used at celebrations by every member of the family.  In that spirit, Geek Slink encourages people of all sizes and ages to get your shimmy on, burn some fat, and strengthen your core while having the time of your life! THIS INCLUDES THE GUYS TOO!!! Men are more than welcome to come and shimmy-shimmy-shimmy with us!!!

Seasoned Dancers and Total Newbs, are ALL welcome in this class. Tone Muscles, improve flexibility and cooridation and get a bit of cardio in at the same time!

Instructor Shanaz Bahara will walk you through the ins and outs of Belly Dance using a foundation of muscle-building moves. Participants will begin with a warm up that will help with flexibility and core strength, and from there you’ll be learning moves like the “Mecha Shiva”, the “Saffron”, and the “Boom-Stick”.

In this 3rd installment we will also be working on learning a special Geek-ified Choreography that will appeal to all you Bollywood and Guild fans. It’s easy to pick up and so much fun you will want to practice all week long!

**Attendees under the age of 18 are welcome but will need a legal guardian present to participate**

There is $5 fee for this event, payable directly to the Instructor.

Students are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel for the warm up (not mandatory), and water to stay hydrated. Please wear yoga or comfortable workout pants and a comfortable t-shirt that isn’t too baggy. Please no coined hip scarves! We will have some noiseless hip wraps available to borrow, or you may bring one of your own.
