UPDATED: Freeport area fun: Bradbury, brunch & beers!

Details
Let’s celebrate the last weeks of winter with a morning hike through the wooded trails of Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal with 180 degree views at the summit, and then toast with new friends as we enjoy brunch and beers nearby at Mast Landing in Freeport.
UPDATED: Marc, our co-host, hiked Bradbury on St. Paddy's Day and reported that the trails were a combination of some softer snow with good traction and more packed/slick snow where traction aids would be useful. Saturday will be warmer to generate some melting but the predicted temps into Sunday morning are below freezing again. We recommend bringing spikes/cleats/yaktrax for your boots though you may choose not to use them. And as always, please dress accordingly for the weather... it sounds like it may be breezy at the summit.
We will meet in the parking lot for Bradbury Mountain State Park at 10 am sharp on Sunday, March 19 and decide from there which trails to take. NOTE, the park has a $4 cash per person entrance fee when the booth is manned and is otherwise on the honor system with a drop box. You will find us at the end of the parking lot next to the info kiosk (and decent porta-potty type bathrooms). The trails are mostly woods and the summit is exposed rock but not cliff-like. Total elevation is just under 500 feet but given the snow, come ready for an intermediate level hike. We expect the hike to last 60-90 mins, putting us on track to arrive at Mast Landing around 11:30-12:00. Everyone is responsible for running their own tabs for food and drinks at Mast Landing.
If something unexpected crops up with the weather, etc., we’ll make a call by 5pm on Saturday Mar 18 and post any cancellation here.
NOTE, as with any activity—particularly a winter hike—you are undertaking this at your own risk and you acknowledge this with your RSVP. We are all hiking Bradbury on our own, just together. We will not have first-hand knowledge of trail conditions that day or your abilities. Our group and MeetUp cannot be held responsible for any negative outcome. If you have any reservations, please wait for a future event instead.
