Detailed Presentation Overviews:

"AI Assistants: The Good, the Bad, and the Code Quality" by Adam Tornhill

  • About the Speaker: Adam Tornhill is a programmer who combines degrees in engineering and psychology. Adam is the founder of CodeScene, where he designs tools for software analysis. He’s the author of the best-selling Your Code as a Crime Scene, as well as several other technical books. Adam is also a software researcher, innovator, and international keynote speaker Adam’s other interests include modern history, retro gaming, music, and martial arts.
  • About the Presentation: AI-assisted coding is still in its infancy, and its potential has been met with equal amounts of excitement and skepticism. In this talk, Adam takes a fact-based approach to highlight the short and long term implications of using AI assistants for writing code. We do so based on extensive research analyzing over 100k AI refactorings in real-world codebases. Based on this data, we start by scrutinizing the claims of today's AI tools; it's easy to mistake code-writing speed for productivity. As AI accelerates the pace of coding, human readers will have a hard time keeping up; acceleration isn't useful if it's driving our projects straight into a brick wall of technical debt. This re-emphasizes the growing importance of code quality for both humans and machines, and during the presentation you will learn about novel quality metrics as well as how to use them as AI guardrails. Finally, we step into the future and look at ways an AI can help us with the complex and daunting task of understanding existing code. This includes new approaches for re-focusing AI on improving code as opposed to just generating more of it. That way, an AI can augment and empower humans rather than replacing the fun and creative task of innovating via code. If you are a software developer or technical leader looking to adopt AI for coding, then this session is for you. Join in!

"Towards solving complex problems, an AI-swam perspective" by Edvin Lundkvist and Richard Niklasson

  • About the Speakers: Edvin Lundkvist, a Generative AI Project Manager, and Richard Niklasson, an Senior Tech Advisor, are at the forefront of integrating AI into business solutions at Elastic Move.
  • About the Presentation: Edvin & Richard's presentation highlights a shift in artificial intelligence towards networks of interconnected agents, suggesting a move to AI ecosystems integrated into business processes for handling complex tasks. This approach could revolutionize problem-solving and task automation by making solutions more adaptive, resilient, and capable of self-improvement. The talk explores how AI agent swarms can enhance decision-making and innovation, supported by new advancements and real-world applications. The talk will explore how AI agent swarms can enhance decision-making and innovation, supported by advancements and real-world applications. Building on this foundation, Edvin & Richard will discuss how, by leveraging these insights, Elastic Move adopts this innovative methodology to craft tailored customer solutions.

Don't miss this opportunity to explore the evolving landscape of Generative AI, network with like-minded individuals, and gain insights from industry leaders. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the field, GenAI Nordics #3 offers valuable perspectives on the integration and innovation of AI in software engineering and beyond.
